Tech, digital, science and creative production businesses will play a key role in rebuilding our economy and we are determined to make sure local people get a fair share of the opportunities in their area.

Collectively, our job is to make it as easy as possible for our residents to secure good jobs wherever they arise in our neighbourhoods. 

What are we doing?

Community engagement

Inspire and develop the talent of underrepresented residents, especially women and Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

Employment and business support

Support local businesses to diversify their pipeline of talent and open up opportunities for local people.

Land and assets

Provide affordable and accessible workspace for entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups. 

Thought leadership

Create a local commitment to developing an inclusive economy and increasing local prosperity through innovation and collaboration.

Why are we doing this?

More than 33% of tech board members and 31% of senior executives attended private schools, compared to just 8% of the UK as a whole.

Residents in some of the most deprived wards in London are effectively locked out of opportunities on their doorstep.

In the UK, for every £1 of venture capital investment, less than 1p goes to all-female led teams.

Only 1 in 9 of the senior leaders in tech come from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background, yet these residents make up over 40% of the population in London.
