Shape Islington's Culture Strategy
Take our surveyWhether it’s taking part in street festivals and community gardening, children being able to do affordable music and sports activities, or connecting to cultural heritage and traditions through cooking, we want everyone in Islington to have the chance to be inspired every day and experience the joy of creativity.
We want to develop an inclusive culture strategy with the local community that highlights the value of what the borough already has to offer and is driven by a shared vision of how we want to make change happen through culture.
We want to know what matters to you and what you want to see more of that will help us challenge inequalities and make Islington a place where everyone is able to thrive. To develop our strategy, we need your help!
Have your say
Find out how to have your say, and share your experiences of and aspirations for culture and creativity in Islington. Our Cultural Enrichment team will also be out and about in the borough over the next few months to get your feedback. Learn more about the in-person opportunities coming up near you:
Vision and priorities
We have drafted a vision and a set of priorities to get us going, but we want to know what you think of them and what matters most to you.
Get more involved
You can register your interest in being more involved in the development of the Culture Strategy by joining our Culture Strategy Working Group. This invitation is open to all residents, community groups, local businesses and creatives who have a connection and understanding of Islington. What else we are doing
We have created a number of projects that will help people engage more creatively in this process that are suitable for their specific needs, ensuring we give as many people as possible the opportunity to take part.
- Drama workshops with young people outside formal education
- Cross arts participatory workshops with older adults, young parents, families, and young women.
- Music and art workshops with refugees, migrants and asylum seekers
- Creative workshops with people experiencing/with experience of homelessness, vulnerably housed and poverty
- Two culture and community sector workshops
Please email us at culture@islington.gov.uk if you’d like to find out more.
Alongside the wider survey, we will use this insight to help build the Imagine Islington Culture Strategy.
