Some online services unavailable on Saturday 23 November and Monday 25 November

Due to essential maintenance some of our online services will be unavailable over the next few days.

  • On Saturday 23 November between 9am–5pm you will be unable to view your council tax, council tax support and housing benefits accounts or documents while we upgrade our systems.
  • On Monday 25 November between 6–11pm our online parking services will be unavailable. During this time, you won’t be able to review or pay for parking tickets or buy parking permits or visitor vouchers.

We are sorry for any inconvenience while we carry out these necessary works.

Helping people experiencing homelessness

There are many ways you can help people experiencing homelessness in the borough

Islington’s ambition is that no one should have to sleep on the streets. We work with partners, from across council departments and externally to support those in greatest need.

What you can do

  • Encourage people at risk of homelessness to get early help by contacting the Advice Service by phone 020 7527 6371 or email Advice.Housing@islington.gov.uk

  • Refer people sleeping rough to Streetlink – by phone 0300 500 0914 or via the website www.streetlink.org.uk

  • Buy a copy of the Big Issue to help a registered vendor

Partner organisations

If you are able to, you can donate money or useful items, such as non-perishable food or clothes in good condition to one of our partner organisations who support homeless and marginalised people.

Pilion Trust – runs a food bank from their Ring Cross site, 60 Lough Road, N7 8RH,  Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12noon - 4pm. 

The Margins Day Centresupports people facing homelessness, at Union Chapel, Compton Terrace, N1 2UN. To find out what they currently need phone 020 7704 9050 or email marginsdropin@unionchapel.org.uk

The Manna at St Stephen’s Church N1 2DF – work with people struggling with addiction, loneliness, depression and poor health. To find out what they currently need phone 020 7226 5369 or email themanna@ststephenscanonbury.org.uk 

Museum of Homelessness (MoH)  - supports community members with emergency funding and supplies. Campaigns to prevent the deaths of people rough sleeping and remembers those who have died while homeless through the Dying Homeless Project.

Outside Project – the UK’s first LGBTIQ+ Community Shelter and Centre.

Streets Kitchen – volunteer to ‘Give a Shift’ at one of Streets Kitchen’s outreach locations.

St Mungo's –works with people rough sleeping to end homelessness. Volunteer opportunities include cooking, art and supporting outreach workers. The current volunteer roles are advertised on St Mungo's website.
