Based in heart of the Knowledge Quarter, the London BioScience Innovation Centre (LBIC) is home to more than 50 life science and biotech companies, including startups and more established businesses.

LBIC were interested in collaborating with LIFT to recruit more talented local people for their roles, and to  better connect with the local community.
LIFT worked with the LBIC team to create a Life Science insight session for residents, which included a tour of the space, visits to employers including MSD and a presentation about entry level routes into the sector. We then supported them to recruit a part time Sterilisation and Waste Technician, guiding them throughout the whole application process, and offering advice to  applicants. A Hackney resident gained the role and continues to develop within the growing company.

“LIFT came at a time when we were reviewing our EDI policies and trying to find a way to become more actively involved with local recruitment and local communities. We have had difficulty in the past accessing the local job market, and were interested in the LIFT approach to break down these barriers, and to demystify our work. The process with LIFT was much less complicated and easier to assess the right candidates for the role, some of who may have been put off by the traditional application process.

This resulted in a very high calibre of candidates for the role, and we would highly recommend working with the LIFT team."
